Rethinking social behavior in Holy Qur-an: Toward an adequate approach
Islam gives priority to peace, dialogues, treaty and
co-operation. In order to social behavior, Peace is the basic principle in the
Holy Qu-ran. Holy Qur-an considers that the violence and war is as act of evil
and those who engage in it are following the evil actions. Islam commands to
establish peaceful relations with fellow beings and prevent hateful behaviours
and actions. This basic theme is applied in both individual and social interactions.
Treaty is always preferable in the context of conflict and arrogance is most discouraging
manner in the Holy Quran. while Holy Qur-an commands to use force only in case
of self-defence, it cannot not to retaliate or return evil for evil. Co-operation
in common goodness and promotion of virtue and ethics in the world is another
significant principle of Holy Qur-an. In spite of difference in the faiths,
ideologies, the Holy Qur-an seeks the co-operation for social growth and
harmonious situation and mutual co-existence. This paper argues that Holy
Qur-an does not encourage hatred in any social situations and peace, treaty and
co-operation for common goodness are basic components in the social behavior in
Islam.
